Diamond is a book's best friend (CPH3)

Looking at the old Royal Library building... ...looking out at the Library Garden. The new Royal Library building is connected to the old one, and also connects two sides of the street Christians Brygge. The address of the new building is Søren Kierkegaards Plads 1, by the way. Outside the library on Slotsholmen there's a mermaid, Havfrue, a bronze copy from 2009. Welcome is the message. The new Royal Library building is called the Black Diamond .  But let's go inside the "best book job of the year". Go & go... ...turn left & right... ...look up... ...look down... ...watch the river flow... ...take a slow boat to China... ...get a clue of inventive children's books... ...or do some ordinary library business. Shine on you Black Diamond. The long tail of the library.

Writings on the wall (CPH2)

It's written there, beneath the heads: Kobenhavns hovedbibliotek (Copenhagen Main Library). But I was on the wrong side of the block and did not bother...  When walking out from the Kastellet Fort I spotted this sign:  The Danish Defence Library Center.  From the Cristiansborg Palace I bumped into the Library Yard, behind the Royal Library. A library cottage for swimmers and surfers. A face in the water. Oh yeah, nothing is rotten if you have a library with a garden... ...even if some parts can be a little bit too straight...

From Roskilde to Copenhagen in twenty years (CPH1)

Image
I had never visited Copenhagen properly, only stepped outside the railway station during some of my many InterRail trips 1975-1983. Twenty years ago I came quite near, when Penniless did a gig at Roskilde Festival on June 28, 1998 . Other bands playing that Saturday were Beastie Boys, Pulp, Rammstein. We hanged around from Thursday to Saturday, so those were my first days in Denmark. In July 2018 I did not sleep in an old worn-out tour bus on the Roskilde Festival area... ...but in a ****hotel facing the new opera house. Still, I would any time  move to Jupiter with Penniless  instead of spending a night at the opera.
